Western States 100 Endurance Run Documentary

Auburn Community Television along with the support of the officials on the Western States 100 Endurance Run are producing a 90 min documentary on the Race/Trail/Runners.

We sent several film crews out the day of the race and returned with hours upon hours of footage equaling at least half a terabyte of space on my hardrive. We also had a small editing crew that went through the footage as it came in. That was a 24 hour marathon of editing for us! We were thus able to broadcast a 40 min teaser of the run at 11:00 on the Sunday morning following the race. As a local Television station it was a new record for us. Very exciting, especially as this coincided with our new system upgrade to Tightrope Media Systems. Our output quality was finally crystal clear!

Now I have the task of going through all the footage, researching, and coming up with a story line to create this documentary.

So, this is the first big project of my and ACTV’s undertaking. I am very excited for its potential and we intend to make this a yearly video. I am still in the storyboarding stages. (I suppose I’m a little intimated by the quantity of footage we have to dive right into it.) This documentary is being produced 100% by volunteers. It’s amazing how the community of Auburn and the entire global running community are all so eager to be involved and have anything they can do with this production.
