Behind the scenes at City Council Meeting
Ever wonder what it’s like at the Auburn City Council Meeting? Not really? How about what it’s like to film the Auburn City Council Meeting? Well let me share some behind the scenes secrets with you.
City Council begins at 6:00pm every second and forth Monday of each month. I begin setting up at city hall at 5:00pm. Tonight I have ACTV volunteer, Kellen Walker, assisting me.
We begin by setting up a television monitor, an audio mixer, a DVD recorder, and a ParkerVision remote control camera system. Yup that’s right I said remote control camera. Very cool stuff.
I monitor audio and video input and output to produce a live edit of the meeting. The meeting is recorded straight to DVD and also directly to our Tightrope server back at the Studio. I then schedule the broadcast of the show on Tuesday at 6:00pm.
The meetings run anywhere from 1 to 6 hours. I have to come prepared with plenty of extra DVDs and water. Once the meeting has concluded I tear down the set and pack up. I must hurry and do this as I have had the lights turned out on me more than once.
The entire city staff is very kind and friendly. The city council meetings may not be the most exciting part of my day but they are always interesting and I have learned much about the behind the scenes of the city of Auburn by filming these meetings.
You can watch these meetings at 6:00pm on ch. 20 in Auburn with Wave Broadband.

Going Live with PCBOS!
Tomorrow marks a new era in Auburn community television. An achievement a year in the making. May 24th at 9:00am the Placer County Board of Supervisors Meeting airs LIVE on channel 20 on ACTV. The first of many meetings and live locations to come!
Last Wednesday Jeremy Kelley and I went over the technical details of making sure the broadcast runs smoothly. Along with the help of Erik Bergen who stayed at the domes to test the video and audio feeds.
So join us tomorrow at 9:00am and watch Auburn broadcast history being aired live!
